The United Arab Emirates is a federal state created in 1971 in the Middle East between the Persian Gulf (also called the Arabian Gulf) and the Gulf of Oman. It consists of seven emirates: Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Sharjah, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras el Khaimah and Umm al-Qaywain.
